Dear Scholarship Program Participant,

Blacks in Government Greater San Diego Chapter is a non-profit organization for Federal, State, County and Local government employees. Our Program was established to improve the quality of public service through Scholarships for African American Students from within the City or County of San Diego, who will be attending their first year of a four-year College or University in the fall of the year.

The scholarship (named the Earl L. Bryers Memorial Scholarship) funds, in the amount of $500.00 are to be used for the purchasing of Books and/or other school supplies.

If you are interested in applying, please fill out the enclosed Application and Recommendation Form; return them to us at the above Post Office Box, not later than 1 May of each calendar year. You must also include a copy of your High School Transcripts.

“FALL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS”

The Blacks in Government, Greater San Diego Chapter Scholarship Program is accepting applications from high school students who will be graduating in the spring and plan to attend a four–year College or University in the fall.

· The Scholarship to be awarded is to be used to acquire books and/or others school supplies.

· A completed application package must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee not later than 1 May of the calendar year the scholarship is to be awarded.

· The package consists of this Scholarship Application Eligibility Requirements Sheet,

A blank Scholarship Application Form and a blank Scholarship Recommendation From.

· The Eligibility Requirements are as follows:

1. Applicant must be graduating from an accredited secondary educational institution.

2. Applicant must have applied for admission to at least one accredited institution of higher learning in the fall of the year applying.

3. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 cumulated GPA.

NOTE: An increasing cumulative GPA would be viewed most favorable during the selection

process.

4. Applicant must provide at least two recommendations from an official of their current high school, community organization, church or employer.

5. Winner (s) of the scholarship (s) MUST BE PRESENT at Our Annual Gospel

Extravaganza/Awards Ceremony.
